Build the equation.

The Standard Model Lagrangian is not a single inspired guess. Its broad structure follows from the chosen fields, Lorentz invariance, renormalisability, and local \(SU(3)_c\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y\) gauge symmetry.

What this chapter does—and does not claim. The symmetry and field content strongly constrain the renormalisable Lagrangian, but they do not predict the numerical gauge couplings, Higgs parameters, or Yukawa matrices. Those remain measured inputs.
